The joint marketing activities of the growth area Frankfurt (Oder)/Eisenhuettenstadt focus on the industrial competence fields of both cities and are supplementary to the regional business development activities performed by municipal governments of the two cities.

Growth area marketing is intended to consolidate and further develop and strengthen the regional economy, in particular by:

  • investments of new companies in the region,
  • promotion and support for the regional firms,
  • expansion investment of existing companies,
  • strengthening cooperation activities nationally and internationally.

Soft location factors are arising to play a key role in the future. It has become clear to the municipal governments and other actors, that a wide range of educational, cultural, sporting, child supervision, residential and leisure opportunities are essential in order to attract both current and future specialists to the region and thereby generate new growth via new investments.

The aim for the two cities of Frankfurt (Oder) and Eisenhüttenstadt is to take over, strenghen and further develop their leading role within the region by growing together and strengthening mutual support. Target groups for local marketing are the citizens of both cities, their political representatives, local companies and associations etc. The Brandenburg state government is regularly informed about new joint projects and their progress. Monitoring and evaluation tools ensure that the success of these projects is safeguarded and measured.

The region can count on additional development and marketing activities carried out in joint cooperation with the Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of the State of Brandenburg (MWE), Brandenburg Invest (WFBB), the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Ostbrandenburg and plenty other networks and partners within the region and beyond.

The industrial and location marketing activities are supported by accompanying measures such as the ambassador campaign for the growth area of Frankfurt (Oder)/Eisenhuettenstadt. With the help of different regional personalities from public life these ambassadors support the marketing activities of the region nationally and international in their respective networks. In detail, they support the marketing activities by:

  • developing networks,
  • joint trade fair appearances,
  • with other joint activities.

In the joint location development concept 2006/07 for the two cities of Frankfurt (Oder) and Eisenhuettenstadt, both cities committed themselves to the further growth and strengthening of the growth area concept and agreed on close cooperation in measures contained herein. The two towns worked out common negotiation bases for the further development of existing regional resources by exploiting the potential of the Berlin-Brandenburg Capital Region. The updated concept in 2010 provided both cities and the state government with a precise tool for ongoing development of the region, in which citizens, companies and regional organizations actively participated in decisions on key fields. The communal goals include:

  • increasing the economic power of the region by strengthening existing companies, start-ups and new companies to the region
  • the creation of jobs and apprenticeships
  • the strengthening of innovation and education/training as a key competitive advantage for the region – nationally and internationally
  • generating a positive and international atmosphere with the help of development approaches with a high public profile
